About this site
Mai Tai & Flower - Purchased Fall 1990. (summer 1998). We didn't know about shelters back then. Mai Tai was tiny but ornery ... she would do a bad and then glare at you as if saying "So whatcha gonna do about it!" Flower was a carpenter wannabe. Every time Steve set down a tool it would disappear. Even stole a 16-ounce hammer ... Flower only weighed  a bit more than that herself.  (Mai Tai standing, Flower on the right.)
Krissy - Adopted Winter 1999 (spring 2001). NO MORE FERRETS FOR US!  So, I volunteered to help Kris Lissner drive ferrets from CA to Reno. Instead I ended up with a gorgeous, tiny, marked white ferret with the cutest black nose. We named her Krissy after Kris. Not only was she beautiful but she was very, very smart. She learned to "roll-over" on command, loved attention and even let me dress her up. Soon after we adopted her she was diagnosed with insulinoma but she lived quite happily for some time after. (We called her Krissy Kissy-Face, still miss her kisses!)
Zack - Adopted Fall 1999 (winter 2001). Zack broke our hearts! He was found under a porch in Tahoe City, CA. He was HUGE, I'd never seen such a big boy, at least 4 lbs or more. He was our panda-boy. The gentlest, sweetest boy in the world. Unfortunately we didn't get to have him very long, he died much too soon from stomach problems. Our vet did her best but he wasted away to skin and bones.
Templeton - Adopted Fall 2000 (winter 2005). "Tee" had belonged to the girlfriend of one of our grandsons. We were so glad to give him a home.  What a bundle of energy and fun. Templeton was everyone's favorite -- He was Mr. Personality Plus!
Gracie & Lucy - Adopted Winter 2001. They were twins but not in temperament. The Humane Society couldn't believe we adopted Lucy she was such a ferocious biter but she was scared and just trying to protect herself and her sister.  Gracie, on the other hand, was a lover.  It took a while but Lucy is a sweetie now. We lost Gracie in the Spring of 2003. She had insulinoma surgery but instead of helping she got  worse. We lost her within a couple months of her surgery.  (Lucy in Zmas Tree, Gracie in my arms.)
February 2005 Lucy & Templeton both came down with ECE. Both were very, very sick and spent a week at Carson Vet. Hospital but only Lucy recovered.

Angel - Adopted February 2005. Angel arrived at October's shelter just after we lost Templeton. Angel needed love and a new buddy.  The story was ... her owner had two ferrets but decided one was enough. Poor Angel lost her home and her buddy. She's also  blind (maybe that was the real reason her owner didn't want her anymore). The good news is she spent only one day at the Shelter before we brought her home to meet Lucy who also needed a new friend.  Now Lucy and Angel are best buddies.

Buster -- The first ferret we ever met. He belonged to our son but lived with us a couple of years while John was in Sacramento. He was small for a male, gorgeous and sooo sweet.
