Success!
Shelter kids write back to let us know that
they are happy in their new homes!
Now that's a box of ferrets!
So how does a family go
from two ferrets to seven in one day? Ferret Math of course!
Snaggle
tooth, Bella, Aphrodite, Mercury and Jazzi were all very bonded.
We didn't want to seperate them, actually, we did seperate Mercury
and Neptune from this group, but that fell through and Neptune is
now missing. Mercury at least got to reunite with his buddies.
This
wonderful family did not want to see them seperated, so they rushed
to meet them and brought their two current ferrets to see if they
want some more friends.
It was a happy family from the start.
The
family also want Neptune if he is ever found.
How lucky can we get?
We
are very happy to have kept this family of furry weasels together.
Thank you to their new wonderful
Buddy came to the shelter on March 15th and was taken
to the vet the next day. At 9pm on the 16th, Dr. Cameron finally finished
his surgery. Buddy's adrenal tumor was 5cm and was attaching itself
to the venacava. On top of that, just putting him under was a big
risk: Buddy has a heart murmur; an x-ray was taken before the surgery
and it showed his heart to be very enlarged. Buddy got to come
back to the shelter on the afternoon of the 17th. You would think
nothing happened: he didn't bruise, he already had no hair, and he
acted like everything was just peachy. He takes his meds like a champ,
except for the heart meds which he's not fond of. Buddy acts like
nothing bothers him. He's just happy with his newly discovered sleep
sacks and ferretvite, the chicken flavored treats, the soup, and,
well… everything. His total vet bill for that surgery was around $800,
which includes the heart meds, ultrasound, and x-ray, along with ear
infection meds. There is a great chance that his tumor will grow back.
Only time will tell, but until then, he's going to be a very happy
ferret.
Buddy is currently in his permanent foster home, is doing rather
well and has made some ferret friends. His fast recovery is wonderful
news to everyone, including future ferrets. And good news - Buddy
is starting to get his fur back!! While his foster mom volunteered
to cover his future expenses, there is still the matter of the $800
vet bill I owe.

Here are a few pix of the shelter
5, that are now VERY happy living in La Verkin, Ut. with their new
family and 6 other ferret friends. The tube you see at the bottom
of the cage in the picture all the way to the right is the "ferret
express" It goes from the baby room, under the floor, up to the hall, and
along the wall to the cage in the living room. They have free access
any time.
Traveller
was named for that very reason, he travelled quite far!
Lucky him,
got to find himself a home with a wonderful new mom and dad.
Traveller
gets everything he asks for, and more, inlcuding his new friends Kira
& Bandit.
Traveller let us in on a little secret, he told us that
his new mommy has a soft heart for those extra special ferrets, so
he'll be getting new friends soon!
Mia
was originally left in a cardboard box in front of a petstore.
However, she managed to find her way into many people's hearts.
She has also managed to find herself a permanent loving
home that seems to fit her personality just right.
Stormy, Missing and Lacy, these
three are truly amazing ferrets with special needs. Lacy has
a stubborn attitude that requires a lot of patience and love.
We never thought we would find them a home.
The three girls
could not be seperated, and we pretty much decided that these ferrets
were ours forever, that is until we met Amelia & John, who turned
out to be just what the three girls needed.
This just proves
that there is a perfect home for every homeless animal out there.
